This year, we are changing how nominations are to be formatted! This is to hopefully reduce duplicate nominations, reduce tag migration, and make the nomination process smoother for everyone. It is as follows:

• Characters in any given relationship are to be ordered in alphabetical order with reference to the first part of each character's name being used, as you read left to right. That is, if the family name goes first, then by family name. If the given name comes first, by given name.
• All nominations must contain at the end, inside parentheses (), the name of the canon (or a truncated version as necessary).

A nomination that does not meet this criteria will not be approved.

In terms of nominations generally:

• just about any fandom is eligible;
• You must nominate relationship(s) inside a fandom;
• The characters must appear in the fandom nominated;
• Please remember that "Character A/Character B" is shipfic, "Character A & Character B" is genfic, and "Character A/Character B & Character C" is shipfic that also has a gen component involving Character C;
• There is no limit on the number of characters that can be in a combination other than the AO3 character limit;
• Objects can be nominated in tags;
• Crossovers must be nominated in "Crossover Fandom", which is already nominated.
• Original Works are okay and we have nominated that fandom for you already;

You will be required to offer two tags per fandom on signups (unless only one relationship tag is nominated), so please keep that in mind when nominating.

For specific fandoms:

• Marvel Cinematic Universe - please only nominate characters who have appeared in the movies into this fandom.

We've been notified that there was an error where you could select any relationship in the tagset under a request for any fandom in the tagset. We've subsequently fixed that.

Nominations
Nominations continue until 11:59pm EST on December 29 2016. As there has been a lot of mod posts of late, here is the tagset for easy access!

I will be doing a post about clarifications at the end of the nomination period as well, so please be around for that (with the exception of Crossovers, which is covered below).

Crossovers
The tagset approval form on the admin side has a hard limit of the number of tags you can see where the fandom has been approved but individual tags have not been approved yet (either because they've been added since or there are issues with the tag.) I've reached that limit! As such I'm currently unable to approve any more tags for fandoms that have been already accepted until the crossovers have been sorted.

Here's how you can help:

1. Please nominate crossovers into Crossover Fandom and not individual fandoms. I'm aware that the form says you can nominate crossovers under any fandom, but that's not the case for this exchange! There are some downright weird associations with tags on AO3's end and nominations are shown on my screen randomly, so putting them in Crossover Fandom drastically reduces the number of steps I need to do on my end to fix it.
2. If you are nominating crossovers and there are multiple continuities (Marvel, DC, Holmes etc etc), please specify what continuity a character belongs to. Please err on the side of caution if you're not sure and be specific! There are a lot of Lokis in Marvel, for example, and not being specific may disappoint.

If by the time the tag set closes crossovers are nominated in the wrong place or it's unclear which continuity you mean I will start rejecting tags so that I can approve the rest of the tagset.

Star Wars

• If you nominated All Media Types, I have not rejected anything in that nomination yet. Please move your nomination(s) over to the correct fandoms.
• Please go through the tag set and see if there are any duplications. This is especially the case for things like Rogue One, where there were 33 duplicates, and so it is likely I have missed something.
• There's a nomination for "Rise of Empire Era" - can someone give more information as to what canon(s) this comprises of? It's very difficult to do a search on! - EDIT: I have an answer: could the nominator please amend your nomination(s) to be Prequels, Clone Wars or the other source(s) of canon you mean?

X-Men Movies

• I am still taking opinions on how to deal with the alternate timelines. So far I have 2 votes for merging all movies into one fandom and use disambiguation (that is, the brackets at the end of each name in a tag) to specify what continuity something is, and one for separating the tags into timelines.
• No matter what option we end up using, there is going to be a lot of tag deletion and recreating to reflect continuity. That is going to take some time. If you could help by at the end of nominations doing a list of which tags belong in which continuity (preferably with each tag on a new line!) that would save me a ton of time and be greatly appreciated!

Fandom Merging

• Merging all nominations into All Media Types, with individual series to be specified in the tag after the character names (i.e. Character A & Character B (Source));
• Approving by era (Prequel Trilogy, Original Trilogy, Clone Wars, Rogue One, The Force Awakens, Rebels and anything else that comes up).

As apparently you can only do polls if you have paid time, I have set up the second best option: roll calls Please comment in the correct subthread with your preference. The one with the most votes by 28 December is the one that I will do.

Some more issues arising out of the tagset:

•  Undertale/Utena and Undertale/Madoka ships - these are crossover ships and need to nominated as "Crossover Fandom". Please move your nominations for these crossover ships from Utena and Madoka to Crossover Fandoms.
• Persona 3 and Persona 4: There are some ships between P3 and P4 characters. I appreciate that there are a number of games that cross over the two, and P4 is a sequel to P3 - did you want me to merge these into a larger category? Otherwise the P3/4 ships will have to be nominated as "Crossover Fandom".
• The Vampire Diaries - L.J. Smith: Was this what you intended to nominate? There are some characters in this nomination that belong only in the TV series and some relationships are different between TV series and books
• Tales of Symphonia: Emil Castagnier, Ratatosk and Richter Abend only appear in Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World. DId you want a more general tag of Tales of Symphonia series?
• MASH: I have an enquiry about whether the nominator meant to nominate "Erin/Hunnicutt/B. J. Hunnicutt". Is the nominator able to confirm that this ship was what they wanted?
• Merlin & Gary "Eggsy" Unwin: Is this meant to be a crossover ship with Merlin from the TV series or meant to be Eggsy & Merlin (Kingsman)?

• Neon Genesis Evangelion: Which one? Maki Illustrious Makinami is a Rebuild character and the series are quite different. Do you want NG or Rebuild of Evangelion?
• Superman - AMT: Do you want All Media Types for Superman?
• Dragon Age: I am about to merge these categories into Dragon Age - All Media Types unless I hear otherwise.
• Les Misérables: I genuinely have no clue how to handle this. So far the book and AMT has been nominated. What would you like me to do?
• Fairy Tales & Related Fandoms: There does not seem to be any character combinations nominated here. Is that an error with the mod console or did you not nominate any character combos?
• Leo Fitz/Alphonso "Mack" Mackenzie: This has been nominated in MCU. Did you mean to nominate it in Agents of SHIELD?
