Greetings Chocolatiers!

We're currently at the point where we're mostly up to date with the tags we can approve. We're still sorting through some of the queries from the last post and should have an answer in due course.

If your fandom has already been approved, due to the set up of the mod console, we can only see the first few alphabetical fandoms. That means we're unlikely to see your fandom for a while if it is near the end of the alphabet. 

This year we have tweaked the nominations requirements which may be why your nomination is pending:

• Characters in any given relationship are to be ordered in alphabetical order with reference to the first part of each character's name being used, as you read left to right. That is, if the family name goes first, then by family name. If the given name comes first, by given name.
• All nominations must contain at the end, inside parentheses (), the name of the canon (or a truncated version as necessary).

A nomination that does not meet this criteria will not be approved. You can check your nomination and revise before nominations close.

I think I fixed mine. I'm sorry I was confused by the canon requirement in parentheses. I was overthinking. After seeing a few examples, I figured it out.

I'm not sure if there's a problem with mine? I tried to add some pairings to the Guardian (TV) fandom, but they're not showing up yet. (Sorry if I did something wrong; I'm a nominations novice.)

The fandom has been approved. As the mod console only shows the approved fandoms in alphabetical order, unfortunately G is a bit far away currently. The mod console shows unapproved fandoms randomly.

How do you want the combination ship and gen relationship tags ordered?

Like if I want B/C & A & D, do you want it like that or fully alphabetized so it's A & B/C & D?

Not the mod here, but I nominated a combo ship alphabetized the latter way (A & B/C & D), only mine was more like A & B/D & C & E, lol, and that was approved. So I'm betting the answer is the latter. The reasoning is so that the tags will show up next to each other in the tagset, so the latter makes more sense.

I saw that Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) (2020) has its own tag but I thought all DCEU movies had to be in the same category/fandom just like the MCU? I nominated a Birds of Prey ship on the DCEU fandom but it has already been approved on the Birds of Prey fandom and now I'm confused.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice also has its own fandom when it should be under DCEU.

Does the alphabetical order also apply for Original Works or not? Because well there are no family or given names, just descriptions and often the order of description would make more sense than the alphabetical order, e.g. Widowed King/His new husband by arranged marriage

I thought Pokemon Main Games were all going in together, but for some reason 'Pocket Monsters: Sword & Shield | Pokemon Sword & Shield Versions' is separate in the tagset right now (it's the latest entry in the main game franchise).

Posted my nominations two or three days ago, but they still haven't been reviewed. Is this normal or is something wrong? All of my nominations are existing tags in AO3.

Hi, not the mod, but probably what's happening is this part of the above post: "If your fandom has already been approved, due to the set up of the mod console, we can only see the first few alphabetical fandoms. Unapproved fandoms can also get backed up, especially in an exchange as big as this. Also, the instructions for this year directly said to buck AO3's usual instructions for ordering tags, so if you just picked the tags from the drop down they might be incorrectly nominated.

Hi, this may be a dumb question, but I see that you want the character and pairing to have the fandom? I'm not sure what you mean by having the "canon" at the end. I am using the site default character names for my nominations. If I don't do that, it doesn't default to what's already listed. Help? Sorry for the confusion.

Hi, not the mod, but here with help!

Exchanges in fandoms are nominated by canon, usually meaning the specific text/film/video game that you intend to request but sometimes split up differently (for example, the Star Wars movies are split up into trilogies). "Putting the canon at the end" of the relationship tag means instead of a tag like:

Harry Potter/Luna Lovegood

you would instead have to write something like:

Harry Potter/Luna Lovegood (Harry Potter)

"Harry Potter" is the canon!

The other thing I think you need explained is that in most cases the tag provided by the drop down won't be correct for this exchange. Tags are used in matching and AO3's system isn't smart enough to figure out that the "A/B (Fandom)" tag is the same as the "B/A (Fandom)" tag, so the mod is asking us to look at all of the names in our nominations and alphabetize the names in each ship based on the first character in their name. That way, if I nominate "Harry Potter/Luna Lovegood (Harry Potter)" and you nominate "Harry Potter/Luna Lovegood (HP - JKR)", the tags will be listed right next to each other in the tagset, making the duplication easy for the mods to catch.

You will probably have to ignore the dropdown and type your nominations out yourself, but it will make life a lot easier for the mod!

Hi chocomods! I realized today that I nominated a character in Beware the Villainess with a nonstandard transliteration of her last name All my noms for "Melissa Foddebrat" should be "Melissa Podebrat" as that's the spelling the most popular translation goes with.

If we're going to have a formal revisions/corrections period I can shelve this until then, but I just spotted a typo I made revising my nominations for alphabetical order -- one tag nomination for Wolf Hall should be Anne Boleyn/Henry VIII/Thomas Cromwell when it's currently got Henry VII in the mix. If it's too late to fix now, no worries, I can shelve it until next year. Thanks so much for all your work trying to get noms wrangled this year and sorry for the trouble.

I was looking at the updated tagset and noticed that while my nomination for "Boyfriend Material - Alexis Hall was approved, it's showing no relationships in the fandom tag, but under my nominations, "Luc O'Donnell/Oliver Blackwood (Boyfriend Material - Alexis Hall)" is showing as approved.

Question regarding fandoms - so I see that The Lost Tomb | Dao Mu Bi Ji verse is broken out into individual dramas and the books are separated off. If I'd like to nominate a character from the drama Lao Jiu Men | Old Nine Gates and Sha Hai | Tomb of the Sea | Sand Sea but with a character and event that only appears in the main Dao Mu Bi Ji | The Lost Tomb book series, and with a character who appears only in Lao Jiu Men | Old Nine Gates but in The main Dao Mu Bi Ji timeline, how would I go about doing this? It isn't technically a crossover, because it is all in the Dao Mu Bi Ji | The Grave Robbers' Chronicles | The Lost Tomb verse and the author does have it included on his big timeline. But it doesn't technically exist in a single volume or media.
