Never fear, for Chocolate Box is returning for 2017/8! Nominations have opened and will continue through until the 29th.

You can find the tag set here!

In terms of nominations generally:
  • just about any fandom is eligible;
  • Please remember that "Character A/Character B" is shipfic, "Character A & Character B" is genfic, and "Character A/Character B & Character C" is shipfic that also has a gen component;
  • If you are nominating a character that has multiple versions across canons, please specify which one;
  • There is no limit on the number of characters that can be in a combination other than the AO3 character limit;
  • Objects can be nominated in tags;
  • Crossovers must be nominated in "Crossover Fandom", which is already nominated. Crossovers that are not nominated in this fandom will be deleted.
  • Original Works are okay and I have nominated that fandom for you already;
  • You will be required to offer two tags per fandom on signups (unless only one relationship tag is nominated), so please keep that in mind when nominating.

Please watch this comm for updates about clarifications, merging of fandoms, and general administrative enquiries! If you have any questions, drop them here!

Is it possible to edit our nominations after we submit them? I haven't seen The Last Jedi yet, and I may come out of the theater with new ideas. *g*

Should/can I nominate Homestuck and Hiveswap relationships under the same fandom tag? Hiveswap is a spinoff of Homestuck with a few shared characters and a fully shared universe; personally I'd like to have them together, because I can nom a lot more relationships than I can fandoms, and also so I can request relationships involving characters from both (shared universe, so everyone in one series is also in the other) without spending another fandom slot on Crossovers, but I understand that others may not share this opinion.

I have a similar situation with the Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel: the Series fandoms. Angel's a spinoff, half the cast was a former main on Buffy, and the shows themselves crossover and reference events from each other throughout the duration of the series.

Can I nominate the same relationship as a ship and separately as a platonic thing?

Thank you!

Another question: is it okay to nominate Star Wars - All Media Types as a fandom? I see two more specific fandoms have been nominated for Star Wars, so wondered if I should follow suit. If I should, then do pairings between characters from different subfandoms need to go under Crossovers, though they exist in the same universe?

ETA: Sorry! Checked the comments below and answered my own questions.

There's a typo in this Tales of Berseria (video game) tag: Eizen/Rokurou Rangehst Rangetsu (Tales of Berseria)

Thank you!

As far as nominations are concerned, are the different Star Wars trilogies considered different canons? I tried to nominate a pairing for the Original Trilogy and it tells me it was already nominated for the Sequel Trilogy (though I don't see it listed yet). What should I do in this case?

My nominations for "Original Work" are instead showing up in "Unassociated Characters & Relationships."

I was wondering if, like in Yuletide, it would be possible to have a letter post a couple of days earlier than when signups open? For the very zealous who have their requests done and know that they won't be affected by any late-breaking tagset changes. I ask only because people often have days off and free time the weekend of Dec 29-Jan. 1 to start working on some treats. But then come Jan 2, it's back to work. :(

No worries if not, but it's always worth asking. And thank you for running this!

I'd like to second this! Being able to have some time to write over 29-Jan 1 while I'm off work would be incredible.

The Exorcist (TV) tag correction

Hi. Would it be possible to correct a character tag? For The Exorcist (TV), one of the characters nominated is listed as "Peter Morrow", but that name is incorrect. I know it already appears like that in several fics on AO3, but those were likely getting the name from the incorrect sources on the web and/or just repeating the same error by following others people's tags rather than using the name that actually appeared in the show.

The canonical character tag should be "Peter Osborne", as was seen in the character's Fish and Wildlife Service name badge onscreen in episode 2x04, "One for Sorrow", and confirmed by one of the show's writers on Twitter:

It's officially "Osborne," but I believe he was announced in the trades as "Morrow" before we learned it didn't clear and changed it to Osborne. That's my theory on where the discrepancy online happened.

I'm a bit unsure about nominating panel shows. For now I've nominated both Lee Mack/David Mitchell (Would I Lie To You) and Greg Davies/Alex Horne (Taskmaster) under British Comedy RPF, but I'm fine with it if they should go under their separate panel shows. Thanks!

I'm not sure how to nominate a crossover. There are canon tags for the crossover characters (Neal Caffrey/Harry Hart|Galahad, et al) for White Collar/Kingsman, but I don't know how to actually nominate the crossover itself.

Okay, I think I've got it. I just type "Crossover Fandom" into the Fandom box and then the various relationships. I don't have to specify "Crossover Fandom - White Collar/Kingsman (Movies), right?

Hi, I noticed the K/Joshi ship from the Blade Runner movies shows up twice:
Lt. Joshi/Officer K | Joe
Officer K | Joe/Joshi

Also, the Mindhunter TV show is under both TV Shows and Uncategorized Fandoms, and one of the ships (Holden Ford/Richard Speck) is only in the Uncategorized section.

Under "Oneshot" (video game) there's this tag: "Niko & Proto & Cedric (Oneshot) & Rue (Oneshot)"

Was this originally two tags that got mixed up? Or is one of those "(Oneshot)" descriptors superfluous?

Homestuck/Hiveswap Relationships

Date: 2017-12-28 02:13 am (UTC)
From: (Anonymous)
Homestuck has its own relationship structure, and on the AO3 all 4 types of romance are synned to the / tag. I know I can't ask for gen if I nominate A/B or romance if i nominate A&B, and I can't ask for A/&B, which makes sense.

However, can I specifically ask for red A/B, for example? I wouldn't want to nominate for pale A/B and get black A/B, or vice versa, and I'm not sure if fillers just have to adhere to writing A/B or to writing the quadrant of romance requested.
