One of the things that came up during nominations was that some of the relationship tags were, in the eyes of some people, potentially in bad taste. Our default position is (as it has been in all years) that we are not going to be rejecting relationship tags unless the tag includes the nomination of a real life child in a RPF fandom. That said, given the sheer number of complaints we got this year, we thought that we should open this for discussion. Should we continue to allow essentially all nominations? And if the answer is "no", what criteria should we be using?

Talking about nominations, it's looking like the change in numbers worked for the better - we went a lot longer this time before the admin console started to break down, and we didn't get the complete shutdown from the previous round. If you have suggestions for nomination numbers, we're interested to hear them.

Finally, we remind you all that anon comments are screened by default, but will be unscreened if you include your AO3 name.

He was one of them, yes. We're pretty reluctant to start excluding characters, because the burden on us to research each and every character would be crushing, especially during nominations where we are already very time-poor. We'd be dependent on people coming forward to tell us, and that may not happen.

Speaking as a Hockey RPF reader/writer (and as a mod for hockey-specific exchanges which ban Kane and other players for DV/assault charges), I don't think it's necessary to ban Kane or other players from multifandom exchanges. The contingent of people in hockey RPF who participate in multifandom exchanges is relatively small, and we know which players we want to avoid and can nominate/offer/request accordingly. If someone is matched to a request for a Kane pairing or other potentially objectionable ship, I think it should be up to that writer to decide how they want to proceed (ie by defaulting or contacting the mods).

Also you can't match on what you don't offer, so presumably you either make sure not to use Any or you never offered Kane in the first place.

As another hockey RPF reader and writer, I agree with theladyscribe in that I don't think it should be on the mods of a big multifandom exchange to research this kind of thing. I appreciate that most hockey exchanges exclude him, but I don't think that you guys should have to.
