I did, and you can see the amended tag over at the tag set under The Exorcist. I have no control over what AO3 considers a canonical tag for its archive. You'll have to take that up with them.

I did take it up with AO3. I've sent them three tickets about this, over three months. The individual character tag was finally wrangled two days ago but they left the pairing tag incorrect.

What's frustrating is that even though the pairing had the right name listed in this challenge at the nomination stage (and thank you for that), the writer still used the wrong name anyway.

And I don't want to spoil the fun for the participants by bitching about it in the fic comments, but it's driving me nuts that people would rather repeat an error from an early press release over and over than use the name that was SHOWN ONSCREEN.

As the writer, I used the character names/pairing tag that the person I gifted the fic to used in their request and letter.

So SORRY that it was so offensive to you and that you'd rather complain here than leave a polite note on the story.

I had hoped that correcting the name at the nomination stage would prevent this kind of confusion. I am sorry. I realise how hurtful it must be to feel like I was talking behind your back.

Since the CB mod did everything she could about it at the proper time, and the very short story you have issue with wasn't by you or for you, it makes perfect sense that you're bitching about it here.

Sorry for venting at you, btw. I'm just really tired of trying to get this fixed and not getting a response from AO3 and seeing writers not caring one way or another when I've tried to bring it up before and the frustration just boiled over.

Thanks for assuming I "didn't care" versus using the character name as the person I actually gifted the story to used in their letter/request.
