Tagset Queries

We're a couple of days into nominations and we're already at 4,761 relationship tags across 789 fandoms.

We have some queries as follows:
  • Agent Carter - does Steve Rogers appear in the show? If not, please move to Crossover Fandom
  • Fantastic Four Movies (2005-2007) - Tony Stark does not appear in these movies, please move these nominations to Crossover Fandom
  • Rocketman (2019) RPF - can the nominator tell us how Hugh Jackman relates to this fandom?
  • Rogue One - neither Luke Skywalker nor Poe Dameron appear in this movie. Please move to Crossover Fandom
  • Star Wars Prequel Trilogy - Ahsoka Tano does not appear in these movies, please move to Crossover Fandom.
  • Star Wars Sequel Trilogy - Jyn Erso does not appear in these movies, please move to Crossover Fandom.
  • Pokemon - we have nominations for Sword and Shield, the Main Series as a whole, All Media Types, and Black and White. We would like a consistent approach for Pokemon. How should the series be nominated?
  • Persona Series - please nominate into individual Persona games, or into Crossover Fandoms.
  • The Witcher - All Media Types - please nominate a specific version of the Witcher.
  • Fallout - should it be by individual titles or as a series as a whole?

Finally, if you're interested in nominating, requesting, or offering superhero comics, we're asking if you want them as a combined tag (aka Marvel Comics, DC Comics) or as individual titles. Currently, the numbers are 4 for individual titles and 2 for combined tags. We'll make a decision after the weekend is over, so please put your opinion forward if you have one!

Steve appears in the very first episode of the Agent Carter. It's footage from The First Avenger. IIRC that's it, though.

Personally, I think it would make sense for Fallout to be handled the same way Dragon Age is--as one fandom labelled "Fallout (Video Games)."

For comics I would say combined tag because a lot of possible ships aren’t necessarily under the same titles (like if someone ships Captain America/Wolverine, where would that go?) and a lot of the characters don’t necessarily belong to one title (like at different points in time Wanda Maximoff has been an X-Men villain and a member of the Avengers, which one would she go under if we’re separating those?).

Brixton Lore/Deckard Shaw is in both Fast and Furious and Hobbs and Shaw. To prevent duplicates, you could:

1. Merge Hobbs and Shaw into Fast and Furious. Arguably Hobbs and Shaw is a part of that series
OR
2. Delete anything with Brixton Lore or Hattie Shaw from the Fast and Furious fandom because they only show up in the Hobbs and Shaw movie

Probably there’s a third option but I haven’t thought of it

For superhero comics, my vote is still for individual titles.

I prefer comics under a combined tag. Especially since I'll have to separate the pairings under three different fandoms if they end up having to be nominated under title instead. And I'll have to end up deleting most of them because I don't have any extra fandom slots.

Was there ever a consensus on how to nominate marvel comics?

My vote is for All Media Types. The main series characters all appear in other media and usually have aspects of their other appearances incorporated into their characterizations.

I also nominated N & Mewtwo and if Pokémon is split, that would likely go into Crossovers which seems wrong when you can even transfer Mewtwo into N's games. Most people's Mewtwo characterizations come from the anime and from Detective Pikachu.

Pokémon Adventures/Special is a specific Pokémon canon, but the franchise is fundamentally multimedia and labelling as game-only or splitting based on games of primary appearances seems incorrect to me.

I vote either Main Game Series or all Media types for Pokemon. Most exchanges combine all of the games. I'd leave the Adventures manga separate. I don't read it, but I've heard that the story line is different from the games.

Found some dupes in Guardian (TV):

Shěn Wēi/Yè Zūn/Zhào Yúnlán (Guardian (TV))
Shen Wei/Ye Zun/Zhao Yunlan (镇魂 | Guardian (TV))
Shen Wei/Zhao Yunlan/Ye Zun (Guardian TV)

Shěn Wēi/Zhào Yúnlán (Guardian TV)
Shěn Wēi/Zhào Yúnlán (Guardian)
Shen Wei/Zhao Yunlan (镇魂 | Guardian (TV))

Yè Zūn/Zhào Yúnlán (Guardian (TV))
Ye Zun/Zhao Yunlan (镇魂 | Guardian)

I've bolded the ones I think should be kept (the ones without diacritics).

I would very much prefer for comics to be under their individual titles.

I'd prefer the Pokemon tag to be the main game series as a whole, as major characters have crossovers, and they are (for the most part) all meant to be in the same world.

The Hugh Jackman/Taron Egerton nominator here - during the press tour for Rocketman, Taron performed at Hugh's concertat the O2 Arena. Hugh has been a very close friend since they starred together in Eddie the Eagle. No biggie if you don't think it's appropriate.

I don’t mind combined tags, but I wanna be able to differentiate what / or & I be writing for if it’s under the DC comics vs DC Black Label/Vertigo. That is all!

For Pokemon, my preference would be the main series video games together under 'Main Game Series', and other versions of continuity in their own continuity specific tags. To elaborate, there's basically three different media universes in Pokemon:

The Pokemon 'main series' games (Red/Blue/Yellow through Sword/Shield) have a shared universe and continuity, and often characters from one game in the series appear in other games in the series - for example, the same Red from Red/Blue/Yellow appears in Gold/Silver/Crystal and Sun/Moon as well.

The main anime has its own entirely separate continuity, and while characters from the anime have some similarities to their game counterparts, they mostly have their own characterizations and there's no crossover with the games' world.

And then the 'Pokemon Special/Pokemon Adventures' manga has characters who have the same names and appearances as characters from the games, but entirely different backstories and characterizations - many of the heroic characters from the games are villains in the manga.

(There's also a bunch of other spinoffs, too, but most of them don't share any human characters with the above continuities.)

If it were All Media Types, that would cause some issues with sorting out which character people are requesting; just as an example, there's someone named Sabrina who exists in all three continuities, but in one she's a soft-spoken but friendly trainer, in another she's a ventriloquist with split personalities who turns people into dolls, and in a third she's a villainous gang member.

A bit late, but as someone who really likes the Pokemon games and has never watched the anime, I would at least like the anime and games to be separated. It is an extremely multimedia franchise, but I feel like the storylines and cast of the anime vs games are different enough to warrant being separate fandoms (although, of course, maybe I'm the only person who engages with the fandom this way? IDK).

Merging all the mainline games together is probably fine, given that they are all supposed to take place in the same continuity (more or less, I think). Some spinoff games I would probably consider separate canons (Pokemon Conquest comes to mind), if those get any nominations.
