Unfortunately, the title says it all.

We have been trying to make our schedules work to run Chocolate Box this year but as of today we realized that this was unlikely to happen, and that it was unfair to you all to keep you waiting while we tried to make the exchange happen regardless. We're sorry, both for having to cancel it for this year, and the late announcement. We know it's a disappointment. It's one for us as well. We really did try hard to make this work.

We hope to see you all again next year, bright-eyed and keen to make some sweet chocolate bites for everyone!

Assignment Delay

Signups have closed! However, we have run into a hurdle: matching was not able to be completed, because the algorithm that does the matching has been stuck at the "Assignments Generating" stage for almost ten hours.

What this means is that we were able to run matching once and so know that there is one person who is completely unmatchable, and a significant number of initial pinch hits. We ran the matching algorthim a second time to see if we could reduce the number of initial pinch hits, and the algorithm was able to complete the first half of matching (that is, working out how many matches each person has), but not generating assignments.

We have a support request in with AO3 and we'll keep you all updated how that goes.

In the meantime, please take a look at the requests. If you want to add relationships or fandoms to increase your matchability, please send us an email with your AO3 name to chocolateboxmod@gmail.com and we'll add those in for you.

EDIT: We have managed to run matching! We are now contacting non-matchables.

Pokemon - we have nominations for Sword and Shield, the Main Series as a whole, All Media Types, and Black and White. We would like a consistent approach for Pokemon. How should the series be nominated?
Persona Series - please nominate into individual Persona games, or into Crossover Fandoms.
The Witcher - All Media Types - please nominate a specific version of the Witcher.
Fallout - should it be by individual titles or as a series as a whole?

Finally, if you're interested in nominating, requesting, or offering superhero comics, we're asking if you want them as a combined tag (aka Marvel Comics, DC Comics) or as individual titles. Currently, the numbers are 4 for individual titles and 2 for combined tags. We'll make a decision after the weekend is over, so please put your opinion forward if you have one!

Now is your opportunity to provide feedback! We will not be commenting (unless we are asked a direct question), but we will be reading!

One of the things that came up during nominations was that some of the relationship tags were, in the eyes of some people, potentially in bad taste. Our default position is (as it has been in all years) that we are not going to be rejecting relationship tags unless the tag includes the nomination of a real life child in a RPF fandom. That said, given the sheer number of complaints we got this year, we thought that we should open this for discussion. Should we continue to allow essentially all nominations? And if the answer is "no", what criteria should we be using?

Talking about nominations, it's looking like the change in numbers worked for the better - we went a lot longer this time before the admin console started to break down, and we didn't get the complete shutdown from the previous round. If you have suggestions for nomination numbers, we're interested to hear them.

Finally, we remind you all that anon comments are screened by default, but will be unscreened if you include your AO3 name.
